Official openings and new beginnings
September has been a busy month for a number of our clients, featuring two big opening events and the unveiling of an exciting new partnership.
Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park opened up new spaces to the public in a welcome event for the local community.
Hoardings and fences were removed during the day, giving the people of Attercliffe and beyond free access to all parts of the site from Worksop Road to Coleridge Road, in East Sheffield. This also includes easy access to the canal basin that has been tidied and improved over the summer by volunteers from the project design and construction teams.
The event saw pupils from the Oasis Academy Don Valley run down the new 100m track through an opening ribbon as well as tours of the new space for leisure, walking, running and cycling. Speeches were also given by Richard Caborn, Project Lead for Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, and Simon Carr, Managing Director at Henry Boot, contractors for the site.
We also played a key in role in the organisation and management of the official opening of Westfield House – the new headquarters of Westfield Health. An event of this size, which has important messages for both an internal and external audience, has to be put together in close partnership with the Westfield Health team.
Sheffield-born war veteran Frank Yates, who is Westfield’s longest-standing policy holder aged 96, was the guest of honour but the main focus of the event was the exciting innovations which are driving Westfield’s future such as their partnerships with 3rings, the Sleep Geek and their involvement with Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.
In a busy month of major events, we were involved with the re-naming of the Sheffield Arena to the FlyDSA Arena following a sponsorship deal with Doncaster/Sheffield Airport. The Arena, which is managed by our client SIV, is one of the UK’s biggest indoor venues.
This is a very exciting period for a number of our clients and we are proud to offer our support during this eventful time. Next up is the Redbrik Chesterfield Half Marathon – we’ll see you at the finish line.
